LCS History

Lighthouse Christian School operates as a non-profit ministry of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship that was established to glorify God by offering a Christ-centered, quality education that assists parents in developing leaders and disciples of Christ in Middle Tennessee. The school opened in August of 1979 with 128 students. Since its inception, LCS has been committed to assisting parents in the training and education of their children by offering a Christ-centered, quality education. It is the desire of the administration and staff that all our students would become disciples of Jesus Christ.

Over the years, Lighthouse Christian School has been a shining light to the community of Antioch, Tennessee. LCS has seen numerous students graduate and go on to colleges and universities such as Vanderbilt, Lipscomb, Trevecca, Bryan, and more. LCS boasts graduates who have gone into the world to be nurses, missionaries, pilots, engineers, accountants, athletes, actors, and more.

Lighthouse is also a school of the nations, representing over 26 nationalities in our student body, making Lighthouse one of the most diverse private schools in America!

In 2010, when Nashville encountered the flood, Lighthouse lost the Preschool building. Many remember the iconic image of the "Hope" building rushing down I-24 and being destroyed, which will always be in the minds of all those in Nashville and the family and friends of Lighthouse. Lighthouse as a whole feared the worst of the future, but a miracle from God, the Nashville community, and Extreme Home Makeover worked together to graciously build a brand new Preschool and a brand new era for LCS.

The Lighthouse Difference

Lighthouse Christian School presented its first commencement exercise for five graduates in May of 1982. Since then, the senior class has grown exponentially. Each year, we celebrate our students' accomplishments through our senior graduation ceremony, which is a special occasion centered around family and relationships. We give many prestigious awards away to students who have excelled throughout the year, and the students spend the majority of the program reflecting on their LCS experience through speeches that honor, praise, and thank others who have contributed to their graduation journey.

Our alumni are regularly seen at sporting events and special ceremonies. A number of LCS students have graduated from or are now attending universities all over the state and country. Currently, a number of alumni are working with us as teachers or after-school care providers. While not all alumni are actively pursuing Christ, many are following Him and are upstanding, productive members of society.

With the strong support of devoted parents and dedicated staff, LCS has grown and established a strong testimony throughout the Southeast Nashville community. LCS' main endeavor is to satisfy the spiritual needs of our students, the local community, and the Lighthouse Church body. We also strive to meet our students' academic, social, and physical needs in the following ways:

1) By striving to offer a chapel program that includes revivals and special events. Additionally, Biblical integration is included in each academic subject and there are several leadership groups that strive to make disciples of fellow students.

2) By providing an excellent academic schedule that exceeds the requirements of the Tennessee Board of Regents.

3) By offering extracurricular activities that are geared toward addressing the social needs of students.

4) By providing a sports program including basketball, football, baseball, and soccer for boys; and basketball, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading for girls. We also provide a comprehensive physical education program that begins in Kindergarten.

LCS has a variety of talented students in the Fine Arts area. Students in Theater Arts, Choir, Art, and other areas have won awards, including State Championships. The LCS Fine Arts Department has opportunities from Preschool to Grade 12. Each year, there are multiple productions and performance opportunities provided for each student so that students are given a chance to shine and families are provided a chance to celebrate their student’s talents.

Lighthouse Christian School is paving the way in developing leaders for tomorrow and lifelong followers of Christ.
